Doctor Nancy Salzman is an American General Practitioner and Family Physician based in Paris. She was born and raised in Montreal, Canada and she holds Canadian, American and French citizenships. English is her first language and she is bilingual English / French. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa Medical School and completed her post graduate medical education at McGill University in Montreal. Doctor Salzman obtained further medical experience at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Bermuda and the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace in Monaco before moving to Paris in 1984. For over 23 years she worked in the Medical Department of the Canadian Embassy in Paris and has been in private practice in central Paris since 1996.
Doctor Salzman is married to her French husband and together they have two children. In her spare time Doctor Salzman enjoys many sports, traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Doctor Salzman provides preventive care (annual physicals, immunizations, travel medicine, pediatric care, gynaecological care, well woman check ups, prenatal care, promotion of healthy lifestyle choices through counselling), longitudinal care (evaluation and treatment of on-going health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, elevated cholesterol) and Acute Care of illnesses and minor emergencies (major emergencies where hospitalization may be necessary are referred to the hospital).
Patients include children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents as well as adults, both men and women. She enjoys all aspects of general medicine and has a particular interest and experience in women’s health and travel medicine.
Doctor Salzman sees patients of many nationalities in her practice, and due to her unique professional experience and being an expat herself, she fully understands the special needs and expectations of expatriates living in France. Language is one difficulty expats experience when they encounter the French health care system, but the difference in cultural approaches to healthcare is a frequent cause of frustration and dissatisfaction. Doctor Salzman is licensed in Canada, has also passed the American licensing requirements and is one of the rare North American born, bred and trained physicians to have passed the French licensing requirements and to be in private practice in France.
